I am not stranger to baking and candy melts. What is there to do? You melt them, you dip things, the end. One benefit to candy melts is that you DON'T HAVE TO TEMPER THEM unlike chocolate. Therefore, it should be easier to use for your confections.I am not sure if these candy melts were old, OR if the delivery temperature affected them, but these were the most finicky candy melts that I've ever used. I made cake pops and dipped them in these candy melts, and I've had issues I've never experienced before. Granted, it could have been anything else - the temperature of my kitchen, the ingredients I used for the cake pops - but I think it's worth mentioning to you.First, these came completely melted into a solid mass. It really wasn't that hot when it was delivered, so maybe it melted it the warehouse...it is a risk of getting candy melts delivered, I understand this. I know the more you melt the candy, the less consistent the results...more of a chance for blooming, streaks, etc. So maybe that's why I had an issue, but again, I am not sure.I can handle that, though. The bigger issue for me is that when I dipped my cake pops, within minutes, they 'juiced.' I don't know how else to describe it. They leaked yellow liquid. I dipped the cake pops at room temperature AND refrigerated, and also let them set both in the fridge AND out of the fridge. I even turned my air conditioner on to make sure the room was cool. It still happened. Again, maybe it was the icing I used to mix the cake pops, so it not entirely certain the candy melts were the issue. But I have never experienced this before. They still tasted great, but they just messed up the presentation. Also, these took a really long time to set. Usually, candy melts set within minutes - these took around a half hour to get really hard, which made it difficult to smooth out the candy melt after it was dipped. Also, I think it's important to note...if you want a thicker coating, the directions recommend heating it longer. These candy melts should be melted until JUST liquid - the directions even say, that if it is too thick, to let it cool down. I made the mistake of heating it too high and the texture became like seized chocolate. But, once it cooled down a bit, it did get way more liquid-like, and was easier to work with. These are convenient because they are delivered to your door, but if you want to increase your odds of getting consistent results, you may just want to bite the bullet and go to a craft store to get some brand new packages.Tried three different pack/colors and had to give up. Even when I added the vegetable shortening it got no thinner. When I tried to drip it was too thick and pulled my cake apart. After I had given up my sister told me that unless I use the EZ Thin its too thick for cake pops. Why didn't WIlton just say so!So I wrote a review earlier and they were saying they couldn't post it maybe it's because it wasn't a 5 start plz don't ask for a review if you don't want others to know nothing is wrong with the item but my problem was by the time I received it the item was melted due to the hot weather these comments are for you ppl to make things betterI disliked the fact that out of the 5 bags I received, 3 if them were hard as rock and appeared to be expired or old. Not surrounding if candy melts expire but doesn't seen right these 3 bags were hard as rock and the other 2 were not. It’s the perfect color I needed To do my custom box.Used this to make blue marshmallow pops for gender reveal party! This stuff was easy and convenient to use, just melt in the microwave in 30 second increments until easily stirable and you’re ready to dip in your treat of choice! Thanks to these colorful candy melts our dessert table looked great and was a big hit!worked well and easy to use and eat,,,the colour was a bit dull but great none the lessgoodI have no idea why the blue went like pastry! Followed the instructions (its not exactly rocket science) an both bags did the same! I did one in the microwave on defrost as per instructions an the whites i did on the stove in warm waterVery annoyed / disappointed as these arent cheap!Awful to use. I asked advise from a cake maker, watched various tutorials and followed their instructions. The chocolate is terrible ?Very disappointing! It was a disaster. The product was not melting i dont know If I did it wrong but I use other type of good quality chocolates normally. But I thought I’ll give Wilton a try. When doing 30 second burst - it hardened up and really messed up. Tip: use vegetable shortening it said - but still didn’t work.Terrible. I bought these to use on cakepops as I had heard that when melted, they were supposed to be thinner and smoother than normal chocolate. This was completely wrong. I tried melting these many times in various ways; microwave, in a bowl over hot water etc. and each time they melted extremely thick, thicker than frosting! They did not melt thinly at all and it was impossible to smear over a cake pop never mind trying to dip it into the mixture. They are a complete waste of time and money, I should have just bought normal chocolate. Very disappointing, do not waste your money on these.Absolutely horrendous! They didn’t melt properly, they congealed together and ended up with the texture of play dough. Unable to send back as they had been opened. Total waste of money. Would never buy this brand again.
