Dour Candy sounds like a witty and yet righteously angry man ranting over some trip hop instrumentals. But it completely works. It is not as loud and devastating as his last album "History Will Absolve Me", "Dour Candy" leads more toward melancholy and light-hearted jokes about Webster. The best thing about Billy Woods awkward flow is that it creeps up on, before you know it you will be reciting lines about taking pussy like a slave revolt and giving shout outs to Mars Blackmon from "she's gotta have it". Blockheads production is legit, but I definetly paid for Billy Woods personality and perspective. If you are fed up with mainstream glam hip hop talking about fashion and going to art galleries, put your mask on and go underground with "Dour Candy"
