In his sophomore solo album, guitarist/singer-songwriter Jim Keller co-founder of rock band Tommy Tutone and writer of the unforgettable anthem 867-5309/Jenny exudes the rollicking soulful spirit of an artist who has seen it all. An infectiously energetic collective, Soul Candy pays tribute to Keller s instinctual approach to his art. Recorded with members of his current live band and various friends, the album is made up of a year s worth of writing and playing together in support of Keller s widely praised 2010 solo debut Sunshine In My Pocket, Soul Candy exhibits the ever-evolving story of a performing musician, capturing the raw energy of Keller s live shows. Crowd favorite -Giving it Up to Love- conjures hummable rocking optimism with driving guitars and Hammond organ; while the blues-tinged love narrative -Julianne- goes gospel with The Holmes Brothers backing vocals and pedal steel by Jon Graboff, and pop delight -Modern Girl- is a satisfying ode to Keller s unmatched affinity for producing real soul candy. For Soul Candy, Keller returned to the studio with producer Hector Castillo (Brazilian Girls, Roger Waters) to record an album expanding his burgeoning collection of solo work.
